Bible Passage: Romans 3:24-25 We are justified freely by God’s grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Jesus as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His patience, He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.
Think about the word justified for a moment. No one can stand in the presence of a holy and just God. Nothing we can do will reduce or eliminate the impact of our sin. God’s unmerited favor through the blood of Jesus has reconciled us with God. Faith in Jesus wipes away sin (justified - just as if I’d never sinned).
Many think that good works can make us right with God, but our thoughts and actions cause us to sin against Him. Doing good for others cannot reestablish our relationship with God because we have sinned against Him and Him alone.
God cannot leave sin unpunished. A loving God who knows that we will sin has established His method for forgiving the debt of sin. He is most certainly patient, giving us ample opportunity to seek reconciliation. Since sin is against God, we must seek His sin debt payment plan.
Faith is the plan! Trusting in God rather than our human understanding has been the plan since the dawn of creation. Adam and Eve failed to trust God when they disobeyed Him. All the law and the prophets pointed to God’s plan for reconciliation: Jesus Christ. It is Jesus’ surrender on the cross and His obedience unto death that established how faith works.
A sinless man, Jesus Christ, obediently demonstrated what faith in God looks like. We must choose to surrender our lives into God’s care, accept the tribulations we may face, and walk humbly before God in faith. We must embrace Jesus as the only way to stand sinless before God.
It is a journey of faith that begins with the next breath. Our role in God’s redemptive plan is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and by God’s grace, He will receive us as His children.
